Men’s Lacrosse Team Participates in Casey's 5K Fun Run and Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure
The next morning, the Colonels were up early again to help out at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in South Boston, Mass. This event is crucial in the effort to provide breast cancer treatment and research, as they strive to end this horrible disease. The men took on a wide variety of jobs, from set up and break down, to interacting with participants and providing critical health information to all who attended the event.

On Sunday, October 6, members of the Women's and Men's Tennis teams volunteered to help the Boston Parks and Recreation Department with the maintenance, beautification, and restoration of the Lorna Road and Gladeside Terrace trailhead in the city's Mattapan neighborhood. As a team, the Colonels' student-athletes were responsible for removing/cutting up downed limbs and branches, litter pickup, weeding around plantings, and finally, invasive plant identification and manual removal.

Curry's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee "Pays It Forward"
On Wednesday, November 19, members of the Curry College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) decided to spread some good will and smiles on campus. The SAAC Committee, comprised of athletes from teams all across campus, ran a "Pay It Forward" Campaign. In the morning, student-athletes served free Dunkin’ Donuts coffee and munchkins in the Hafer Academic Building to the delight of many faculty, staff and students. The message was simple: "Have a great day and do something nice for someone else today." This story gained regional attention from the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) and was included in the NCAA’s national “Around Division III” feature stories.

Curry College freshman William De La Cruz manages to find time outside of his studies and off-season baseball workouts to volunteer for the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay (BBBSMB). "Big Brother" William visits with his "Little Brother" Elajia Perez-Parrish once a week. His mission is to simple: To be a friend who brings a little magic into the life of a deserving child.

On Saturday, November 22, the Curry College Hockey Team put on its First Annual Teddy Bear Toss to benefit children at the Dana Farber Children's Hospital Cancer Center. After Curry's first goal of the game, fans with teddy bears and stuffed animals threw them on the ice for the Curry players to collect and then donate to sick children who are in the hospital over the holidays.

On Sunday, November 30, Milton Youth Hockey's Learn to Skate Program celebrated its 50th birthday. The Curry College Hockey Team and coaching staff participated, helping teach the youths the basics of skating. The Milton Youth Hockey Learn to Skate Program is directed by Bob Sweeney and provides close to 200 young Milton residents the opportunity learn to skate every Sunday morning. The program has been in operation since 1965.

On Saturday, December 6, the Curry College Cheerleaders decided to give back to their community by running a 5K for Special Olympics Massachusetts. The entire squad participated and raised $1,265 for the cause. The mission of Special Olympics Massachusetts (SOMA) is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of well-coached Olympic-type sports for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
