Cheerleaders Raise Over $1000 for Special Olympics

MILTON, Mass. - On December 6, 2014, the Curry College Cheerleaders decided to give back to their community by running a 5K for Special Olympics Massachusetts. The entire squad participated and raised $1,265 for the cause.

The mission of Special Olympics Massachusetts (SOMA) is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of well-coached Olympic-type sports for individuals with intellectual disabilities by providing them with continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, prepare for entry into school and community programs, express courage, experience joy, and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics Athletes, and the community.

Special Olympics Massachusetts, with the on-going assistance of 9,049 volunteers, provides 106 organized competitions each year to 10,966 children and adult athletes. Training is offered by 1,247 coaches in 24 different individual and team sports.
