Women's Volleyball Defeated By Emerson in Four Sets

BOSTON, Mass. – The Curry College women's volleyball team was outlasted in a non-conference match up at Emerson College on Thursday night by a 3-1 final at the Brown & Plofker Gym.

The Lions came out strong early and captured the first set by a score of 25-11. Emerson then captured the second set, 25-19. Curry was able to respond and force a fourth set with a 25-21 third set win. The Colonels jumped out to a 16-9 lead in the stanza and never looked back. The Colonels trailed 22-16 in the fourth set and would close the gap to as few as three before falling 25-20.

Grace Tepper (Kensington, Md.) posted a match-high 20 kills to lead the Lions and also added seven digs. Moria Brennan (Glenview, Ill.) handed out 46 assists to lead the Emerson offense. Brennan also supplied three service aces in the match.

Lexi Pereira (Attleboro, Mass.) led Curry with a double-double of 18 kills and 11 digs. Amanda Wood (Tokyo, Japan) pitched in 11 kills and two digs while Kaitlyn Giubbini (Newark, Calif.) registered 10 kills and four digs. Jordyn Keith (Whitman, Mass.) tied for a match-high 13 digs and led all players with seven service aces in the contest.

Curry (4-13 overall) continues its road swing with a tri-match at Suffolk on Saturday, October 13. The Colonels will face Anna Maria College at 2:00 p.m. before squaring off against the host Rams at 4:00 p.m. Emerson (11-10 overall) travels to UMass Dartmouth on Saturday for a tri-match against Castleton and UMass Dartmouth at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., respectively.
