Canton, MA - It was a day of celebration for the Curry Men's Hockey team on Saturday, as they beat Wentworth 4-0 after honoring their five seniors prior to the game. The Colonels moved to 19-3-0 on the season, and 13-2-0 in CNE play, while the Leopards are now 6-14-2 and 4-10-1. The win marked the Colonels 11th straight win, and third straight shutout. It marked the first time the Colonels have shutout their opponent in three consecutive games since 2006.

Almost all of the scoring came in the first 20 minutes of this game. First, Nolan McDonough scored off of assists from Ben Biester and Makem Demers. It was McDonough's sixth goal of the season. Just two minutes later it was Taurin Haddon-Harris' turn, as he scored his fourth goal of the season. Then with just a little under three minutes left in the first period, Grady Friedman took the puck and skated around the offensive zone before firing it home to give the Colonels a 3-0 lead after one. The two teams then went nearly two whole periods without another goal, as it wasn't until Eelis Laaksonen scored an empty net goal for his team high 14th goal of the season.

Prior to the game the five seniors on the team were honored. They were Alexander Duncan, Jon Kopack, Makem Demers, Jacob Crespo, and Eelis Laaksonen. Each of them contributed to the win. Kopack came in with just under 14 minutes remaining in the game, making saves on all five shots he faced. Demers had the assist, while Laaksonen the goal. Laaksonen also tied a program record by moving to +58 in his career, tying Nicholas Favaro '23.

The Colonels sit on top of the CNE standings with 40 points. That is three points ahead of UNE, and seven points ahead of Endicott. Those two teams will be who the Colonels take on next weekend, in a pair of games that will almost certainly decide the winner of the regular season conference championship.

Up Next - The Colonels will play their final regular season home game on Friday when they host Endicott at 7pm.
