Three-Goal Second Period Propels Hockey Past #15 Babson
BABSON PARK, Mass. – The Curry College men's ice hockey team used a three-goal second period to double up nationally-ranked Babson College on Saturday afternoon by a 4-2 final at the Babson Skating Center. 
 
The Beavers struck first in the opening period as junior Nick Rosa (Birmingham, Mich.) tallied a power-play goal with 42 ticks left on the clock. The helpers on the marker were awarded to classmate Patrick Flynn (Framingham, Mass.) and sophomore John Corrigan (Stoneham, Mass.) as Babson ended the frame with a 1-0 lead. 
 
The Colonels came out firing in the second period, registering three goals. Sophomore Alex Ochterbeck (Dallas, Texas) found the back of the net twice in a span of 8:28. Curry put in one more, coming off the stick of junior Viktor Jansson (Stockholm, Sweden). Sophomore Mic Curran (Arlington, Mass.) picked up the assist on the tally. 
 
The squads then traded goals in the final frame. Freshman Mark Zhukov (St. Petersburg, Russia) registered his second goal of the season, which came off a setup from junior Matthew Henderson (Scarborough, Maine). Babson got one more before the end of the contest on a power play goal by sophomore Zach Richterman (Canton, Ohio) with 28 seconds left in regulation for the 4-2 final. 
 
Curry went 0-for-2 on the power play while Babson was 2-for-4. The Beavers had 35 shots, compared to 25 for the Colonels.
 
Senior Justin Ketola (Cloquet, Minn.) converted 33 saves in net for his second straight victory. Junior Brad Arvanitis (Holliston, Mass.) had 21 stops in net for Babson in the loss.
 
Curry (2-0-0 overall) opens Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play at Endicott College for its next contest on Friday, November 8 at 7:15 p.m. Babson (0-1-0 overall) will also be in action on Friday as they welcome in Saint Anselm at 7:00 p.m.
