HARRISVILLE, R.I. – Freshman Alex Ochterbeck's (Dallas, Texas) goal 4:01 into overtime lifted the Curry College men's ice hockey team to a 3-2 win over Nichols College on Saturday afternoon at Levy Rink.

Ochterbeck's goal capped off a trio of unanswered goals by the Colonels, who trailed by a 2-0 margin heading into the third period. With the win, Curry improves to 11-6-3 overall and 6-4-2 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play while the Bison fall to 10-8-2 (8-3-1 CCC).

After a scoreless first period, Nichols took a 1-0 lead with a goal from junior Vincent Crivello (Rosemere, Quebec), which was assisted by junior J.B. Baker (Columbia, Md.) and freshman Jucas Andersson (Stockholm, Sweden). The Bison tacked on another goal just 2:35 later as junior Hogan Davidson (Duluth, Minn.) set up freshman Justin Perron (Thetford Mines, Quebec) at the 7:38 mark of the period for a power-play marker.

The Colonels began to chip away at the deficit in the third, tallying its first goal of the game on a power-play from sophomore Michael Snow (Medford, Mass.) 2:58 into the final frame of regulation. The helpers on the goal went to freshman Nick Magill-Diaz (Clawson, Mich.) and senior Lionel Mauron (Lausanne, Switzerland). Curry then knotted the contest at two with 1:13 left in the period as junior Billy Vizzo (Shelton, Conn.) scored from Mauron and sophomore Joseph Thielen (Huntington Beach, Calif.).

The Colonels nearly won the game three minutes in the extra frame but freshman Brett Epp (Edmonton, Alberta) turned away a penalty shot from Snow. Just over a minute later, Ochterbeck netted the game-winner off a helper from freshman Mic Curran (Arlington, Mass.) to give Curry the 3-2 overtime victory.  

Colonels' junior goaltender Justin Ketola (Cloquet, Minn.) finished with 33 saves while Epp had 38 saves in the loss. Curry had a 41-35 shot advantage.

Curry will next play on Friday, February 1 at Wentworth at 7:00 p.m. for its first half of a home-and-home series with the Leopards. Nichols returns to action Friday at Salve Regina at 7:05 p.m.
