BEVERLY, Mass. – The Curry College men's ice hockey team upset the No. 8/10 Endicott College Gulls with a 6-3 victory on the road at Raymond J. Bourque Area on Friday night. After the win, the Colonels move to 10-5-2 overall and 5-3-1 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), while Endicott falls to 11-4-2 overall and 5-4-0 in the CCC.

Curry jumped on the ranked Gulls early behind two first period goals. Junior Anthony Trujillo (Toronto, Ontario) put the Colonels in the scoring column with a goal off assists from junior Billy Vizzo (Shelton, Conn.) and sophomore Kasper Kjellkvist (Vaxjo, Sweden) 13:24 into the contest. Curry doubled the lead just over a minute later as freshman Mic Curran (Arlington, Mass.) tallied an unassisted marker to give the Colonels a 2-0 lead after one period.

The squads traded goals in the second period as Endicott was able to creep closer. Curry lit the lamp first in the frame, thanks to a goal from freshman Alexander Bouchard (Winnipeg, Manitoba) at 5:39 into the period. The helpers on the marker were awarded to senior captain Zach White (Milford, Conn.) and freshman Kalle Sundell (Helsinki, Finland). The Gulls got on the scoreboard at the 8:33 mark of the stanza following a goal from Ricky Carballo (Keller, Texas) to make the score 3-1. Jacob Gammelgaard (Ebsjerg, Denmark) and Jason Kalinowski (Stamford, Conn.) registered assists on the goal.

The Colonels had to hold off a comeback in the third as the two teams combined to five goals. Curry extended the lead to 4-1 following a goal from freshman Alex Ochterbeck (Dallas, Texas) just 1:42 into the final period of regulation. The helpers on the tally went to Curran and sophomore Viktor Jansson (Stockholm, Sweden). The game would remain scoreless for almost 10 minutes when Endicott ended the scoring drought with a goal at the 11:47 mark. Josh Bowes (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) pulled the Gulls to within two (4-2) off assists from Ross Olsson (Billerica, Mass.) and Daniel Kucerovy (Bethel Park, Pa.).

The final five minutes saw three goals, two from the Colonels and one from Endicott. Curry picked up a power-play marker from Curran and added an empty-net goal late from White while John Carricato (Ridge, N.Y.) netted the final goal for the Gulls as the game ended in a 6-3 final.

The teams were only able to capitalize on 1-of-7 power play opportunities. Curry went 1-for-4 on the night while Endicott was 0-for-3. Junior goalie Justin Ketola (Cloquet, Minn.) made 40 saves in 60 minutes of action. The win lifts Ketola's record to 5-3-1. Endicott netminder Conor O'Brien (Pinellas Park, Fla.) suffered his third loss of the season, falling to 7-3-2 as he gave up five and saved 36.
