BEVERLY, Mass. – The Curry College men's basketball team lost a 99-65 contest to Endicott College on Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at the Katz Gymnasium. The win shifts the Gulls to 13-6 overall and 6-4 in the CCC. The loss drops the Colonels to 1-18 overall and 0-10 in conference play.

Sophomore Matt McDevitt (Cumberland, Maine) poured in a game-high 25 points on 9-for-14 shooting, including 5-for-10 from distance. McDevitt also put seven rebounds, two steals, and one block in 24 minutes. Junior Keith Brown (Pelham, N.H.) added 17 points on 5-for-11 from the field and a perfect 5-for-5 from the charity stripe. Senior Vinny Clifford (Danvers, Mass.) was the final Gull in double-figure scoring with 14 points.

Junior Jared Thorpe-Johnson (Dorchester, Mass.) led Curry with a team-high 13 points. He also pitched in eight rebounds, two assists, and one steal in 35 minutes. Junior Kieran Carroll (Greenwich, Conn.) paced the reserves with 10 points and contributed three boards and one assist.

Endicott wasted little time taking control of the game, opening the contest on an 8-0 run on threes from Brown and Clifford. Sophomore Jordan Pettway added the final bucket of the spurt on a layup. The Colonels were able to pull to within five (13-8) on a jump shot from Thorpe-Johnson but Endicott went on another scoring run to break the game open, an 18-0 streak to push the lead to 31-8. The run was capped off by a three by McDevitt with 7:32 to go in the half. The Curry deficit would reach as many as 31 in the opening frame but the Colonels closed the gap 27 to head into the break down 49-22.

The Gulls continued their strong play, extending the lead to as many as 40 in the second half. Endicott started the frame on a 9-1 run to push its advantage to 34 (57-23) with 16:30 to go in regulation. Later in the half, the Gulls sent the lead to 97-57 on a layup from sophomore Russell Noonan (Marion, Mass.). Curry closed the game on an 8-2 run but it was too late as Endicott took the game by the 99-65 final.

Endicott shot 31-for-68 from the floor for a 45.6 shooting percentage. Curry finished the game with a shooting mark of 32 percent on 24-for-75 from the floor. The Gulls knocked down 14 threes to the Colonels' seven. Endicott had a 54-40 lead on the glass while Curry won the turnover battle.  

Curry hits the road for two straight games, starting on Wednesday, January 30 at the University of New England at 7:30 p.m. Endicott will next play on Wednesday at Salve Regina at 7:30 p.m.
