Leary Paces Cross Country at Pop Crowell Invitational With Season Best Time

WENHAM, Mass. -- The Curry College women's cross country team posted a 17th place finish among 26 teams competing on Saturday morning at the Gordon Pop Crowell Invitational.

The Colonels were led by freshman Jessica Leary (Pembroke, Mass.), who finished in 103th place with a time of 22:27.  This was Leary’s' best finish, dropping 26 seconds off her previous race.  Six other Curry finishers also posted season best times.  Those Colonel finishers were freshman Joyce Simon (Pembroke, Mass.), 23:11 (126th), freshman Melanie Berube (Beverly, Mass.), 23:56, (157th), senior Kelly Johnson (Burlington, Mass.), 24:11, (162nd), senior Amy Comeroski (Exeter, R.I.), 24:26  (171st), freshman Victoria Norton (Fairfield, Conn.), 26:29 (211th) and sophomore Jacquelyn Young (Randolph, Mass.), 29:12 (251st).  Freshman Danielle Carey (East Bridgewater, Mass.) competed in her first race and finished with a time of 26:00 (205th).

St. Anselm College and Salve Regina both took top honors in the team competition with a score of 56 points, while the University of New England (73 points) and Roger Williams (162 points) finished as the respective runner-up and third place squads in the event.
Curry returns to action on Saturday October 14, heading to Boston, Mass. to compete at the Emmanuel College Invitational that begins at 4:00 p.m.
