Mulrooney and Leary Earn CCC Weekly Honors
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Curry College sophomore tennis player, Megan Mulrooney (South Boston, Mass.) has been named as CCC tennis "Player of the Week".  Freshman cross country runner, Jessica Leary (Pembroke, Mass.) has been named as CCC "Rookie Runner of the Week". The release is for the period ending, September 18.

Mulrooney enjoyed a solid week in both her singles and doubles matches. From the #1 singles spot, she went 2-0 on the week, including the Colonels’ only victory over Salem State. In doubles play, she paired up with Lauren Chuha to go 1-0 at the #1 spot over CCC opponent Western New England, and 1-0 at the #2 spot against Salem State. The tandem also competed in the 2011 Women’s Grass Court Doubles Championship at the Tennis Hall of Fame, notching two more victories.  The Colonels currently have an overall record of 5-1 and a perfect 3-0 record in the CCC.

Leary placed fourth among 25 runners with a 5K time of 23:37 at the Mount Ida Invitational to help lift the Colonels into first place. The race was Leary’s first 5K. This was also the first meet the Curry women’s cross country team has placed first.
