Women's Volleyball Blanked by Wentworth

MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College women's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Wentworth Institute of Technology Saturday morning in Commonwealth Coast Conference action at the Dr. Eleanor Meyerhoff Katz Gymnasium. Set scores were 25-17, 25-18, 25-16.

With the defeat, Curry moves to 3-7 overall on the season and 0-2 in CCC play.

Senior Lauren Guzman (Cranston, R.I.) notched three kills and two digs in the first set, but Wentworth hit .233 to claim the early 1-0 advantage. Setters Abby Sousa (Seekonk, Mass.) and Emma St. Cyr (Dover, N.H.) each dished out three assists in the set.

Curry was held to just three kills on 24 attempts in the third set as Wentworth pushed the hosts to the brink. 

Wentworth closed out the match by posting 14 kills in the final set, rolling to the 3-0 sweep.

Guzman led the way for Curry with a trio of kills, while classmate Avia Fraine (Mattapoisett, Mass.) paced Curry with 10 digs.

Curry returns to action on Tuesday night with a trip to Dean College. First serve is slated for 7 p.m.
