Women's Volleyball Come Up Short Against Suffolk

MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College women's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 defeat to Suffolk University Friday evening in Commonwealth Coast Conference action at the Dr. Eleanor Meyerhoff Katz Gymnasium. Set scores were 25-14, 28-26, 25-14.

With the defeat, Curry falls to 4-20 overall on the season and 0-7 in CCC play.

Pacing Curry in the match was senior Lauren Guzman (Cranston, R.I.) who led the Colonels with seven kills and 11 digs. 

Four of Guzman's seven kills came in a wild second set that featured 15 ties and four lead changes. The Colonels went on a run late in the second set to take a 23-19 lead, but the Rams roared back before closing out the set 28-26.

Sophomore middle Leah Oscar-Phoenix (Westwood, Mass.) had a huge night at the net for the Colonels, setting a career-high with four blocks. She also notched a pair of kills in the defeat. 

Next up for the Colonels, they will return to the hardwood for a Tuesday evening CCC matchup with Endicott College at Katz Gymnasium. First serve is slated for 6 p.m.
