Colonels Fall to Golden Bears

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Curry College Women's Volleyball Team was downed by Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Western New England Wednesday evening by a final score of 3-0. 

With the loss, Curry falls to 4-15 overall and 0-4 in the conference.

The opening set of the conference bout fell in favor of the hosting Golden Bears. The Golden Bears would outscore the visiting Colonels 25-6 to take a one-set lead in the conference matchup. 

Curry fought back in the second set as senior outside hitter Lauren Guzman (Cranston, R.I.) marked a pair of kills following a series of errors by the hosts to stay with the Golden Bears at 9-11. WNE would hold back further Curry attacks, closing off the second set at 25-19. 

The hosting Golden Bears mirrored their first set performance, holding the Colonels to just 10 points. WNE closed out the conference matchup on a 25-10 decision in the final set. 

Curry College was paced by Lauren Guzman who marked seven kills and 10 digs in the loss.

The Colonels return to the court Thursday as they host Bay Path in Katz Gymnasium at 6 PM.
