Colonels Swept by Bison

DUDLEY, Mass. - The Curry College Women's Volleyball team was defeated by Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Nichols College Wednesday evening.

The Colonels fell to the Bison of Nichols College 3-0 (20-25, 21-25, 16-25).

With the loss, Curry moves forward with a record of 3-10, 0-2 (CCC).

The first set saw a consistent battle between the two sides, however, the hosting Bison took off following a 7-4 lead in the first set. A 11-7 scoring run in favor of the hosts brought the score to 18-11 before the Colonels were able to mark eight points to bring the hosts' lead to just four at the close of the first set. The hosting Bison closed out the first set 25-20 after a Kill from Sydney Ball. 

The second set followed a similar pace as the first set, both sides locked at 10-10. The Colonels would take a four-point lead following a series of bad sets from the Bison. The Colonels would hold the lead following a Lauren Guzman (Cranston, R.I) kill and another error by the hosts. A 6-1 scoring run from the Bison would close the second set in favor of Nichols College.

The third set saw the two conference sides evenly matched through the first 10 points for either team. Nichols College took off on a 14-6 run to close out the third set and ultimately the contest Wednesday evening. The Bison outpaced the Colonels with 10 kills to Curry's six as Curry marked 29 total attacks to Nichols' 27 in the final set. 

The Colonels were led by Lauren Guzman (10 kills, 8 digs) and Brooke Reissfelder (16 assists).

The Colonels will be back on the hardwood Thursday as they host Albertus Magnus for non-conference action slated to begin at 6 PM.
