Women's Volleyball Clipped by Roger Williams

BRISTOL, R.I. - The Curry College women's volleyball team was swept by Roger Williams University in Commonwealth Coast Conference action Tuesday night at the Paolino Recreation Center. Set scores were 25-12, 25-18, 25-21.

With the defeat, Curry falls to 3-8 overall on the season and opens conference play at 0-1.

Freshman Sonja Matheson (Voluntown, Conn.) was Curry's top performer on the evening, finishing her first conference match with team-highs of six kills and 16 digs. Matheson was also responsible for Curry's only two service aces of the evening. 

Lauren Guzman (Cranston, R.I.), Leah Oscar-Phoenix (Westwood, Mass.), and Jess Sullivan (Meredith, N.H.) all finished with three kills for Curry. Sullivan did so without an attack error, finishing with an attack percentage of .375, while Guzman scooped up 13 digs. Junior libero Avia Fraine (Mattapoisett, Mass.) also hit double figures for the Colonels in digs with a dozen.

The match signals the end of Curry's unprecedented 11-match season-opening road trip, as the Colonels will finally return home for a Thursday night showdown with Emmanuel College at the Dr. Eleanor Meyerhoff Katz Gymnasium. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.
