Women's Volleyball Stopped Short by Norwich

NORTHFIELD, Vt. - The Curry College women's volleyball team was taken down 3-0 by Norwich University Friday evening in non-conference action at Andrews Hall. Set scores were 25-25, 25, 12, 25-12.

With the defeat, Curry drops to 3-5 overall on the young season.

The Colonels kept things close in the early stages of the opening set, leading at one point by a margin of 6-5, but could not hold onto the advantage. With the score tied 9-9, the Cadets went on a 9-1 lead to take control of the set and never looked back.

Norwich maintained a modest lead through the beginning stages of set number two, but after Curry scored on a bad Cadet set to cut the deficit to 15-10, Norwich responded with an 8-0 run to all but close out the set.

A handful of quick spurts for Norwich proved too much to handle in the third, as the Cadets were able to finish off the sweep of Curry.

Leading the way for Curry offensively was senior Lauren Guzman (Cranston, R.I.), who finished the evening with four kills. Freshman Morgan Muscato (Plymouth, Mass.) finished right behind Guzman with three.

Curry will be back in action on Saturday for a tri-match at Northern Vermont University-Johnson. First serve in match one against Salem State University is slated for 1 p.m., followed by the Colonels and host Badgers at 3 p.m.
