Women’s Volleyball Blanked by Suffolk

BOSTON, Mass. – The Curry College women's volleyball team suffered a defeat to CCC opponent Suffolk University Wednesday evening. The contest was decided 3-0, set scores were 25-10, 25-21, 25-22.

With the defeat, Curry drops to 11-14 on the season and 1-8 in the conference. With the win, Suffolk improves to 11-15 overall and 3-5 in the CCC.

Set one was all Suffolk University, as the visiting Rams took the early lead with a convincing 25-10 victory. 

Curry's offense found a rhythm in the second set, tying the Rams' lead at 20-20. The Rams were able to hold back the Colonels, taking the set 25-21.

In a similar fashion, the Colonels closed in on the Rams and took the lead late in the third set 22-20 with a service ace from senior Amanda Wood (Tokyo, Japan). Unfortunately, the Rams ran away with five unanswered points to seal the victory in favor of Suffolk three sets to none. 

Freshman outside hitter McKenna Keowen led the Rams in total attacks with 37 and total kills with 15, propelling Suffolk to a victory.

In the defeat, senior middle blocker Amanda Wood (Tokyo, Japan) recorded nine kills on 16 attacks and two service aces. Senior outside hitter Lexi Pereira tallied 29 total attacks and led the team with eight digs.

Curry will be back on the road Saturday for a tri-match against Southern Maine and Western Connecticut State. Matches set for 2:00 & 4:00.
