Senior Reflection - Jordyn Keith

Senior Reflection - Jordyn Keith

MILTON, Mass. – Curry College Athletics will be honoring its fall senior student-athletes who have had their season put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic with the Senior Reflection series. They will be featured on curryathletics.com and on social media.

We continue the series with Jordyn Keith (Whitman, Mass.):

Major: Early Childhood Education

Favorite team memory: There are too many to count!

Funniest team memory: Every memory with my team is always funny. There's never a dull moment with my team.

Proudest athletic achievement or favorite moment with the Colonels: I won "Rookie of the Year" as a freshman, and I am the only senior on the team (I started with seven girls on my freshman team), so that is funny to me and I am tough for sticking with it all four years! It was not easy.

Plans after graduation and how being a student-athlete has prepared you for the future: I plan to become a teacher and work in a public school. Being a student-athlete has prepared me for my future by receiving both positive and negative feedback and criticism throughout my few years as a college athlete. It also helped me become more responsible because in college athletics, you are responsible for yourself and your actions as they are a reflection on yourself and your teammates.

Something you'd like to say to your underclassmen teammates: Enjoy the time that you have on the team. Although it can be physically and mentally challenging, enjoy every last second of it while you can because it really does go by so fast and you never know what can happen (such as COVID).

Best part of being on your team: Making memories with my friends.

Reason you chose Curry and how it has affected you: I chose Curry because it is close to home and I loved how beautiful and small the campus was. I also love the color purple, so that was a factor in my decision as well. I loved how small the campus was, because you recognize many faces, and it is easy to make lots of friends.

An athletic opportunity you're thankful for: I am thankful that I had made the team in general. I was so nervous going into college, thinking I wouldn't make the team. My coach not only let me on the team, but also had me start almost every game as a freshman.

Advice you would give to future Colonel student-athletes: Support each other in not only your own sport, but other sports as well! It's really fun to see and support others in their sport. Enjoy it.
