QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team dropped a key match to Curry 3-0 Saturday afternoon at the Lahue Physical Education Center on Homecoming weekend.
The Lions fall to 5-14 on the year and 1-5 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. The Colonels improve to 8-10 overall and 1-5 in league play with the win.
Nicole Grambley (North Attleboro, Mass) and Grace Stafford (West Yarmouth, Mass.) both tallied 11 kills in the match for Curry. Courtney Carroll (Fairhaven, Mass.) led the Colonels with seven digs.
Joanna Joseph (Brockton, Mass.) paced the home side with five kills on the day. Kayla Dean (Lansdale, Pa.) finished with four kills and a pair of digs while Lauryl Berger (Laurel, Del.) posted 10 assists and three service aces.
Curry jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the match after claiming the opening set 25-16.
The Colonels stretched their advantage to 2-0 with a 25-12 win in the second frame.
The visitors rolled to a 25-14 decision in the third game to clinch their first conference victory of the season.
Curry will return home on Tuesday for a non-conference matchup with St. Joseph's (Conn.) for a 7 p.m. match. Up next, Eastern Nazarene hosts the University of New England in a midweek clash October 19.
