Colonels Outlast Hawks in Five Sets, 3-2 (25-15, 27-29, 17-25, 25-19, 15-12)

LEICESTER, Mass. - The Curry College women's volleyball team outlasted the Becker College Hawks in a five-set thriller on Thursday evening at the Leicester Gymnasium. Set scores were 25-15, 27-29, 17-25, 25-19, 15-12 in favor of the Colonels of Curry, improving them to 3-2 on the season. The Hawks of Becker are now 4-4 on the season. 

Becker sophomore libero Brittney Bullis (Stafford, Va. / Mountain View) finished with a match-high 34 digs to go along with two service aces and six set assists. Sophomore middle blocker Kayla Dupree (North Bergen, N.J. / Bronx) led the offense with 12 kills, with three aces, two blocks and six digs. Junior setter Charlene Landry (Gorham, Maine / Gorham) had 17 set assists with eight kills, 15 digs and a match-high five service aces. Senior middle blocker Marissa Turner (Coventry, R.I. / Coventry) finished with 11 kills.

Curry was led by junior middle blocker Nicole Rice (Woburn, Mass. / Woburn), who totaled 13 blocks at the net to go along with nine kills. Sophomore outside hitter Grace Stafford (West Yarmouth, Mass. / Dennis-Yarmouth) led the offense with 17 kills, four service aces and 23 digs. Senior outside hitter Nicole Grambley (North Attleboro, Mass. / North Attleboro) had 14 kills and 12 digs.

Becker will be back on the court on Saturday when they travel to Rhode Island College for the Rhode Island Invitational beginning at 1:00 p.m. Curry will be at the MCLA Tournament on Saturday, also with a 1:00 p.m. match-up.
