MILTON, Mass. – Curry College hosted Salem State University and Elms College in a women's volleyball tri-match Saturday in Milton. In the opening match, the Colonels swept the Vikings, 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-20). In the second match, the Blazers of Elms came from behind to defeat Salem, 3-2 (25-22, 18-25, 17-25, 28-26, 15-6). In the final match, Curry took care of Elms, 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-17).

Curry 3, Salem State 0

The Colonels were led by Junior Nicole Grambley (North Attleboro, Mass.) leading the way with a team high 10 kills with freshman Grace Stafford (West Yarmouth, Mass.) trailing not too far behind with six kills. Junior Alyssa Keeney (Coventry, Conn.) led the way with a team high 17 assists while also adding three kills, tied a team high with 3 service aces as well as chipping in with four digs. Junior Makayla Hughes (Franklin, N.H.) was right behind Keeney with 9 assists while adding a service ace and 6 digs herself. Sophomore Courtney Carroll (Fairhaven, Mass.) had a team high 16 digs and chipped in with two service aces.

Freshman Allison Vellucci (Northville, Mich.) led the game with 11 kills and contributed 2 digs. Classmate Kaleena Kara (Douglas, Mass.) was right behind with 7 kills while senior Emily Peay (Lebanon, Conn.) followed with five kills and posted a game best 21 digs for the Vikings. Freshman Mackenzie Salls (Turners Falls, Mass.) also posted a game high for Salem, outing up 21 assists.

Elms 3, Salem State 2

In a marathon match, Elms was led by a game high effort in kills (18) by freshman Danielle Redding (Las Vegas, Nev.) who also chipped in two aces and eight digs. Behind Redding was senior Alex Mack (Wilbraham, Mass.) posting 12 kills, 5 assists, game high 6 aces and 12 digs for the Blazers. Senior Shannon Bolton (Shelton, Conn.) had an outstanding game high 40 assists while also totaling four service aces and 11 digs. The sophomore-freshman connection of Caroline Locke (W. Springfield, Mass.) and Ashlee Connors (Springfield, Mass.) put up team second best and best in digs with 15 and 17 respectively.

Vellucci again led the way for Salem State tallying a game second best with 13 kills while also adding a team high 5 aces and chipped in three digs as well. Peay was right behind Vellucci with 12 kills and added a game high in digs (18). Salls led the team in digs with 31 which would normally be a game high if Bolton hadn't amassed 40 on the other side of the net.

Curry 3, Elms 0

In the third match, Grace Stafford tied the game high with 9 kills while also totaling a team second best 14 digs. Grambley and sophomore Nicole Rice (Woburn, Mass.) both tallied 8 kills for the Colonels and Grambley also tallied three services aces which was a game high. Keeney and Hughes tied for the game high in assists with 16 as well. Carroll led Curry game with 15 digs in the backcourt.

Redding led the Blazers on the other side of the net with 9 kills and also recorded 9 digs tying a team second best. Bolton assisted on 13 scoring plays as well. Locke recorded the most digs for Elms College (11) and was followed closely by Mack.
