Women's Volleyball Drops 3-0 Decision to Visiting UNE

MILTON, Mass. – Visiting University of New England posted a 3-0 victory against Curry in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's volleyball contest Wednesday night in Milton. The Nor'easters improved to 10-7 on the season and 2-1 in league play, while the Colonels dropped to 8-13 overall and 0-4 in CCC action.

UNE outlasted Curry in the first set, taking a 25-17 win. In the second set, the Nor'easters ran away with a 25-7 victory, before holding off the Colonels in the final set, 25-17.

Senior Angie Brunette (North Andover, Mass.) led UNE with a match-high 14 kills, while junior Leah Janelle (Madbury, N.H.) chipped in with 10 kills and three service aces. Senior Maria Kuehl (Middleton, N.H.) dished out a match-best 17 assists, while classmate Kirsta Adie (Tyngsboro, Mass.) added 17 digs.

Curry was led by freshman Alyssa Keeney (Coventry, Conn.) with nine kills and 10 digs. Classmate Nicole Grambley (Medford, Mass.) contributed with a team-high 16 digs, while junior Christina Wallis (Peabody, Mass.) had two solo blocks. Freshman Makayla Hughes (Franklin, N.H.) recorded eight assists.

The Colonels return to action on Saturday, hosting Framingham State at noon for a non-conference matchup. The Nor'easters resume play on Tuesday against visiting Gordon for a 7:00 p.m. CCC tilt.
