SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Western New England University volleyball team - behind Kelsey Armstrong's match-highs of 11 kills and .348 hitting - took care of visiting Curry College on Tuesday evening by scores of 25-16, 25-11, 25-12 in Commonwealth Coast Conference action at the Alumni Healthful Living Center field house. The Colonels drop to 8-11 overall, including 0-2 in the CCC; the 11-5 Golden Bears, meanwhile, pick up their first conference win in three starts.
The Western New England offense registered a season-high .413 attack percentage on a mix of swings. Maureen Pollet added six kills and .500 hitting on eight attempts, and Kasey Cameron chipped in five and a .571 hitting percentage on seven attempts.
Curry got a team high six kills from junior Emily Boudreau, seven assists from freshman Makayla Hughes and eight digs from freshman Lauren Gaffney. Sophomore Marissa Cort and freshman Nicole Grambley each contributed a pair of service aces.
The Colonels resume play on Thursday evening, hosting CCC rival Endicott College at 6:00 p.m.
