HOLYOKE, Mass. - The Wildcats of Bay Path College hosted the Colonels of Curry College and the Trailblazers of MCLA in an NCAA Division III regional women’s volleyball tri-match. The Wildcats were the only team to sweep the day with Bay Path winning the first match against Curry 3-1 (22-25, 25-15, 25-16 and 25-18) and the final match against MCLA (25-23, 25-22 and 25-14). MCLA took game two of the day from Curry 3-0 (25-13, 25-14 and 26-24).
In the first match, freshman middle hitter Arriadne Sykes (Hartford, Conn.) led all players with 11 kills, four service aces and three block solos. Sophomore Libero Kacie Bayreuther (East Lyme, Conn.) garnered the match high 20 digs and three service aces. Freshman Elizabeth Haylette (Terryville, Conn.) had the match high attack percentage with .381 tallying nine kills.
Curry’s senior middle hitter Kendra LeMay (Chicopee, Mass.) topped her team with six kills. Junior Libero Tyla Miller (Marshfield, Mass.) finished with ten digs.
In the second match of the day MCLA shut down the Colonels 3-0 with the Trailblazers being led by sophomore middle hitter Angelica Perfido (Whately, Mass.) with ten kills and 14 digs. Sophomore setter Brittany Kish (East Longmeadow, Mass.) had match high 28 assists, while junior Libero Kelley Bryant (West Springfield, Mass.) finished with 15 digs.
In the final match, the Wildcats shut out MCLA 3-0 once again Sykes led the way hitting a .368 attack percentage with nine kills. Haylette added five kills. Bayreuther finished with 14 digs, while freshman outside hitter Stephanie Synott (Torrington, Conn.) chipped in 12 digs.
Perfido led the trailblazers again with nine kills and 12 digs. Bryant led all players with 15 digs.
For the day, senior setter Ashley Provost (Ludlow, Mass.) finished with 43 assists, 16 digs and seven service aces. (Match recaps courtesy of Bay Path Sports Information)
