Women's Volleyball Captures Season Opener, 3-0, Over Visiting Mass. Maritime
MILTON, Mass. - Curry College opened its 2011 campaign by defeating visiting Mass. Maritime Academy, 3-0, in women's volleyball action Tuesday evening in Milton. The Colonels won by set scores of 25-14, 25-10 and 25-16.

Curry (1-0) got a team-high eight kills from sophomore Courtney DiBiasio (Coventry, R.I.), who also chipped in with 10 digs. Junior Kaitlyn Poirier (Acushnet, Mass.) amassed team highs in assists (14) and service aces (10) while contributing six kills. Sophomore Samantha Coleman (Reading, Mass.) led the Colonels with 20 total digs.

For the Buccaneers (0-4), sophomore Katja Juergens (Boylston, Mass.) tallied a team best three kills, while freshmen Deb Langley (Abington, Mass.) and Kelsey Pelletier (Bristol, Conn.) notched match highs with 32 assists and five solo blocks, respectively.

Curry returns to action on Saturday morning, traveling to Northampton, Mass. to play both Smith (11:00 a.m.) and Elms (1:00 p.m.). Mass. Maritime resumes play on Thursday, hosting Suffolk University in a 7:00 p.m. match.
