Women's Tennis Tops Eastern Nazarene

QUINCY, Mass. - The Curry College women's tennis team nabbed its first win of the season Monday afternoon, defeating Eastern Nazarene College 7-2 in non-conference action at the Eastern Nazarene Tennis Courts.

With the win, Curry improves to 1-1 on the season, while Eastern Nazarene moves to 0-3.

The Colonels won two of the three doubles matches to take the early lead in the match. At first doubles, Alexandra Borkov (Newton, Mass.) and Serena Wilson (Windsor, Conn.) picked up a convincing 8-2 win, while freshman Grace Coopee (Hampden, Mass.) and junior Lily Turner-Burrell (West Rutland, Vt.) won 8-5 at third doubles.

In singles play, the Colonels continued to control the match, coming out on top in five of the six matches to secure the victory. Borkov dominated at first singles, sweeping 6-0, 6-0, while Wilson lost just one point at second singles to pick up a 6-1, 6-0 victory.

At fourth singles, Cayla Osowski (Westfield, Mass.) came from behind to get a win for the Colonels by a score of 2-6, 6-3, 7-6. Coopee and Turner-Burrell each won at fifth and sixth singles respectively to close out the day for the visitors.

Curry will be back on the courts on Wednesday, opening CCC play with a road trip to Roger Williams. First serves in doubles play are slated for 4 p.m.
