Women's Tennis Bested  by Commonwealth Coast Conference Foe Nichols College, 8-1

MILTON, Mass.  - The Curry College women's tennis team fell to visiting Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Nichols, 8-1, at the Big Nine Courts on Saturday afternoon.  The loss drops the Colonels 0-8 on the season and 0-5 in the CCC, while the Bison improve to 7-1 overall and 4-0 in the CCC.

Nichols took five of six singles matches and swept all three doubles sets.  Curry's lone point of the match came at the No. 6 singles position as Samantha Gilbert (Bedford, Mass.) defeated sophomore Rebecca Khachikian(Dennis, Mass.) 6-4, 7-6.

The Bison's No. 1 singles player, Juliana Herrera (Villavicencio, Columbia) won her match 6-0, 6-1 against Sidara Cash-Sortwell (South Portland, Maine).  Nichols No. 2 singles player Lindsey Kaplan (Boca Raton, Fla.) claimed her tilt verse Alexis Mclea-Perry (Plymouth, Mass.), 6-0, 6-1. In No. 3 singles, the Colonels Stephanie Leblanc (East Bridgewater, Mass.) was bested by Rachel McDonald (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.), 6-1, 6-1. Tiffany Romano (South Windsor, Conn.) earned the No. 4 singles win for the Bison, 6-2, 6-1 by defeating Alison Daigle (Edgartown, Mass.). At No. 5 the Bison's Kristina Domantas (Holden, Mass.) earned 6-3, 6-0 wins over Rosario Robidoux (Agawam, Mass.).

In doubles, the No.1 pair Herrera and McDonald outlasted the Colonels Cash-Sortwell and Perry by a score of 8-2.  The No. 2 duo of Kaplan and Domantas bested Curry's LeBlanc and Merrill, 8-1.  In the final match on the day, No.3 Bison doubles partners, Romano and Emily Houchin (Durham, Conn.) earned an 8-0 victory over Miller and Gilbert.

The Colonels return to action on Monday, September 25 at 3:30 when they travel to Rhode Island College.  The Bison also return to action on Monday, September 25, when they host Salve Regina in a 4:00 p.m. CCC match.
