Women's Tennis Drops 6-3 Decision at Lesley University

(CAMBRIDGE, Mass.)--- The Lesley University women's tennis team earns their first home win of the 2017 campaign as they defeat Curry College, 6-3. The Lynx improve to 2-2 on the season while Curry remains winless at 0-7.

Lesley swept the doubles portion of the match, 3-0. The senior Lesley duo of Caroline Kiddie (Scituate, Mass.) and Theresa Pereira (Hopedale, Mass.) came out on top over Curry's Alexis Mclea-Perry (Plymouth, Mass.) and Sidara Cash- Sortwell (South Portland, Maine), 8-1. Sara Stanton (Manchester, Mass.) and Rachel Mingingham (Hopedale,Mass.)  collected another 8-3 win over Curry's April Miller (Newton, N.H.) and Samantha Gilbert (Bedford, Mass.). The Lynx pair of Maddie Abbott (Portland, Maine) and Jessica Russo (Watertown, Mass.) secured the sweep with a 8-5 victory over Stephanie Leblanc (East Bridgewater, Mass.) and Kelsie Merrill (Hope, Maine).

The singles portion of the match was an even 3-3 split amongst both teams. Curry's Perry defeated Abbott, 6-4, 7-5. Lesley's Russo fell to Alison Daigle (Edgartown, Mass.)  6-3 and 6-4.  Rosario Robidoux (Agawam, Mass.) earned the Colonels third win of the night with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Lesley's own Tea Ryder (Gloucester, Mass.). Lesley's Kiddie won the No. 1 singles matchup against Cash-Sortwell, 6-1, 6-0. Pereira's, 0-6, 6-2, 6-1 win over Leblanc which added another one in the win column for the Lynx. The match was clinched when Stanton defeated Miller in the No. 5 matchup, 6-2, 6-2.

The Lynx are back in action this afternoon as they travel to Eastern Nazarene College. Time set for 3:30 p.m. Curry will resume play on Saturday, September 22, 2017 as they travel to Rhode Island College for a 3:30 p.m. start. (Match Recap Courtesy of Lesley Sports Information)
