Women's Tennis Bested by Commonwealth Coast Conference Opponent Western New England, 9-0

MILTON, Mass. (September 3, 2016) – The Curry College women's tennis team lost to Western New England University 9-0 this afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action.

The Golden Bears swept the Colonels in all six single matches and three doubles.

Western New England's' Morgan Schrader (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) was victorious in both singles and doubles play, cruising to a 6-0, 6-0 win over Alexandra Moschetto (Hampton Falls, N.H.) at No. 5 singles after teaming up with junior Lauren Sell (Milford, Conn.) for an 8-1 triumph over Laura Ferris (Shelton, Conn.) and Katelyn Harrington (Westport, Mass.)at No. 2 doubles.

Rachel Bauer (Palmer, Mass.) was successful for the Golden Bears earning an 8-6 win at No. 3 doubles along with Kim Phu (Wolfeboro, N.H.) as the duo dispatched Jennifer Dube (Coventry, Conn.) and Stephanie LeBlanc (East Bridgewater, Mass.).

Joeanna Glantz (Agawam, Mass.) earned two points for the Golden Bears with her wins at No. 2 singles against Kayla Prete (Orange, Conn.) and No. 1 doubles.

Western New England got off to a strong start with a sweep of doubles play. Sell set the tone at the top of the Golden Bears' singles lineup, posting a 6-1, 6-3 win over Keeley Hardy (Charleston, S.C.).

Curry (0-2) will look to bounce back on Tuesday at Eastern Nazarene.  Western New England (1-0) returns home to host Wentworth on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. in its 2016 home opener.
