
MILTON, Mass. – A sweep of doubles competition helped lift Bridgewater State University past Curry, 7-2, in women’s tennis action Wednesday afternoon in Milton. The Bears improved to 11-1 overall, while the Colonels fell to 9-8.
In the doubles matches, Bridgewater’s Lauren Donnelly and Jessica Francis defeated Emily Mongello and Lauren Chuha, 9-8 at #1. Julie Kraby and Bridget Murphy knocked off Kate Johnson and Megan Mulrooney 9-8, at #2 and Jenna Williamson and Lauren Hopp took care of Elizabeth Zarkades and Devin Curley 8-3, at #3.
In singles, host Curry got wins from Mulrooney at #1 and Chuha at #4. Bridgewater earned its points at #2 Francis, #3 Williamson, #5 Murphy and #6 Hopp.
Curry resumes play on Monday, October 18 when they host Mount Ida College for a non-conference match at 3:30 p.m. Bridgewater travels to Salem State University on Saturday, October 16 for a 1:00 p.m. match.
