Women's Tennis Threatens Upset, But Falls 5-4 to Roger Williams

MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College Women’s Tennis Team was edged 5-4 by visiting Roger Williams University in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) match on Thursday afternoon in Milton. The Hawks improve to 9-4 overall and 9-1 in conference play, while the Colonels drop to 7-6 overall and 5-5 in TCCC action.

The Hawks dominated in singles, winning five out of six matches. Curry picked up its lone singles point from freshman Emily Mongello (Plymouth, MA) at #2.

Curry began the match by sweeping all three doubles contests. Mongello and Lauren Chuha (Reading, MA) defeated Samantha Curran (Cumberland, R.I.) and Leah Ribchinsky (Ivoryton, CT), 8-2, at #1; Megan Mulrooney (South Boston, MA) and Kate Johnson (Beverly, MA) knocked off Tracy Klein (New City, NY) and Amanda Wolfe (Mansfield, MA), 8-6, at #2; and at #3, Devin Curley (Marshfield, MA) and Elizabeth Zarkades (Beverly, MA) took care of Olivia Hilton (Vernon, CT) and Alexandra Reilly (North Easton, MA), 9-8.
 
Curry returns to action on Friday, October 8 at 3:30 p.m. hosting Newbury College. Roger Williams entertains Colby-Sawyer at 1:00 p.m on October 9.
