Women’s Soccer Posts Clean Sheet Against Wentworth in CCC Action

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College women's soccer team defeated Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Wentworth 2-0 Tuesday evening. This marks the Colonel's first win in the CCC this season.

With this win, Curry improves to 1-4 in the conference and 7-7 overall this season. With the loss, Wentworth falls to 0-4-1 in the conference and 1-8-3 overall.

Both teams went scoreless in the first half, Curry recorded seven shots in the first 45 while Wentworth only tallied three. It wasn't until the second half that tonight's winner was decided.

The Colonels found the back of the net on two occasions. Just under ten minutes into the second half, junior midfielder McKenna Reid (Irvine, Calif.) netted a free kick from 35 yards curling the shot past the wall and finding the bottom corner putting the Colonels up 1-0.

The second of Curry's goals came by way of a penalty kick. Senior forward Samantha Borges (Somerset, Mass.) screamed a shot by the outstretched hands of freshman goalkeeper Juliana Heaton of Wentworth sealing the 2-0 victory for the Colonels.

The Colonels return to Walter M. Katz Field Saturday for a Homecoming game against CCC opponent University of New England. Kick-off is set for 5:00 p.m.
