NORTON, Mass. – Lyon first-year forward Lily Scammon scored her first game-winning goal of her career in the 84th minute to lift the Wheaton College women's soccer team to a thrilling 4-3 come from behind victory over visiting Curry College Thursday evening at Christina Mirrione '99 Stadium.

With the game tied at 3-3 with six minutes left in regulation time and the Lyons (3-0) pushing the pace, Scammon gathered the ball on the right side of the field. The first-year raced past the Curry (3-1) defense and fired the ball across the frame, past a diving Morgan Stott.

Wheaton opened the scoring in the fourth minute with Megan Healy netting the first of her two goals. After a foul on Curry, senior Brooke Collard threaded a ball from the edge of the 18-yard box to Healy who put it away. The Lyons held the lead for less than a minute when the Colonels tied the game on a goal by Kaitlyn Lima. She scored from nearly 25-yards out after receiving the ball from Kelly Parker.

Just five minutes later Curry seemed to put the game away with back-to-back goals. The first was scored by Korinna Tsonis in the 10th minute. The junior found herself in the right spot at the right time, heading the ball back toward goal after Samantha McGrath's shot deflected off the crossbar. Lima netted her second goal of the game a minute later, putting the Lyons in a 3-1 deficit. Lima fired off another long range shot after picking up a Wheaton clear pinged off a different Curry player.

Neither team scored again until the late stages of the game when the Lyons unleashed their comeback campaign. In the 73rd minute, Scammon pulled Wheaton within a goal with her first-career putaway. Caren McCarthy started the play with a shot to the far post that was pushed away by Stott, only to fall to Scammon who calmly guided it into goal.

With the momentum in their favor, the Lyons tied the game a minute later after Healy's second goal of the contest in the 74th minute. Healy scored after a pass into the six-yard box was cleared to the edge of the 18, where Healy was waiting and able to lift it into goal.

That setup the Lyon heroics in the 84th minute with Scammon notching the winning goal.

The Lyons outshot the Colonels 25-10, while holding an 8-0 advantage in corners.

Prior to the start of the contest the Lyons presented Curry head coach Jason Tassinari with a check in to aid in the medical expenses for his two-year-old daughter Olivia. Olivia was diagnosed with aggressive medulloblastoma - a form of brain cancer that can spread to the spinal cord. Once an assistant coach at Wheaton back in 2003, coach Tassinari also played for Lyon head coach Luis Reis at Bridgewater State.

Wheaton returns to the field on Saturday, Sept. 10 against Castleton for a 1 p.m. contest at Mirrione Stadium.  Curry returns to the field also on Saturday, Sept. 10 for a 2:00 p.m. contest against conference opponent Wentworth at the Walter M.
