Women's Soccer Shuts Out Thomas College, 5-0

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College women's soccer team defeated Thomas College, 5-0, on Monday night in Maine. With the win the Colonels improve to 3-0 overall.  The loss drops the Terriers to 0-2 on the season.

Curry controlled the first half outshooting Thomas 27-1 and taking a 2-0 lead.  Kaitlyn Lima (New Bedford, Mass.) got her team on the board just 5:04 into the period.  Samantha McGrath (Carver, Mass.) sent Lima a pass and one-timed the ball over the head of Thomas's goaltender Paige Leary (Palermo, Maine).  Lima netted her second at 17:35 after teammate Korinna Tsonis (Dartmouth, Mass.) sent her a through ball for the assist.  Colonel's goalkeeper Morgan Stott (Dartmouth, Mass.) saw just one shot on net.

Curry wasted no time in the second netting their third on the night with only 3:43 off the clock.  This time it was Lima assisting Tsonis for her first goal of the season.  The Colonels kept the pressure on and at the 58th minute of play, the team took a 4-0 lead.  Lima earned her second assist after sending a pass from the corner of the field to McGrath who sent the ball over the head of Leary.  Curry tallied their fifth and final goal of the game with 18:09 left in regulation.  Kelly Parker (Branford, Conn.) was awarded an assist off of Amanda Crisfulla's (Raynham, Mass.) score. 

Curry finished with 55 shots while Thomas had a game total of two.

Stott made one save in 45 minutes in net before giving way to Kristen Buzzotta (Lynnfield, Mass.) who started the second half and made zero stops in 25:45 minutes.  Curry's Katelyn DeMaio (North Andover, Mass.) finished the game in net making zero saves.  Leary made a game-high 27 saves in the loss.

Curry returns to action on Wednesday, September 7 when they travel to Wheaton College in a 4:15 p.m. game start.
