Women's Soccer Holds Fourth Annual Alumni Game

MILTON, Mass. - On Sunday April 24th several former Colonels returned to Walter M. Katz Field to play a friendly match against members of the current Curry Women's Soccer Team in the 4th annual Women's Soccer Alumni Game. It was the largest and most successful alumni game to date as over 25 alumni participated in addition to the current Curry team.

"Connecting the present with the past is very important to me and my coaching staff", said 5th year coach Jason Tassinari.  "I was so happy that my current players could make an emotional and visual connection with some of the players who paved the way for where they are today."

The current Colonels played UMass Boston to a scoreless tie prior to the alumni game in a spring scrimmage, and then played against the former Colonels for 60 minutes. After the game, the players and their families gathered for an assortment of food and drinks next to the field.

"This was by far the best turnout since I've been here, which is very exciting", said Coach Tassinari.  "What's satisfying for me is that a majority of the alumni who attended the game didn't actually play for me (prior to 2012). I think it shows that we are doing a good job of reaching out to all the former players and making them feel like they are still part of the program. We certainly love and appreciate all of them."

There was also a wide range graduation years playing in the alumni game.

"We had players from the class of 2016 playing alongside some players from the class of 1981 and 1983", says Coach Taz. "We even had a few players who were on the very first team in the late 70's. It may look like a game, but in reality it's a social event for everyone involved."

Next year's game is scheduled for Sunday April 23rd at 10am.
