MILTON, Mass. – When asked for volunteers for the fourth year in a row at the Milton Foundation for Education – 17th Annual Monster Dash 5K Race and Fun Run, the Curry College women's lacrosse and women's soccer teams jumped at the opportunity.  Both programs were excited to get involved with the Milton community.  The Curry women's lacrosse and women's soccer programs have put an extra emphasis on academics this year, so tying into the Milton Foundation for Education made perfect sense.

On October 25, Colonels' student-athletes completed a variety of tasks throughout the Monster Dash.  Curry students helped create a positive, fun-filled atmosphere, whether they were at the tattoo and face painting station, leading a group dance to help kick start the event or manning one of the three water stations along the course.  The Curry lacrosse and soccer players were willing to give up a Sunday morning to help in whatever way they could.

"The importance of community service activities for our student-athletes cannot be over stated," said fourth-year Curry Women's Soccer Coach Jason Tassinari. "The players get a unique opportunity to go out in the community, interact with the wonderful people of Milton, and impact the lives of so many children. The Monster Dash was a fun and rewarding day for all the players involved. We look forward to returning next year."

"Curry College volunteers from the Women's Soccer and Lacrosse teams were extremely helpful at this year's Milton Monster Dash, held on October 25th.  The race was a big success in terms of participants and funds raised, in spite of the gray, damp weather that greeted us on race day.  Curry volunteers were stationed at all three water stops along the 5K course and at various locations inside Cunningham Park for the Kids Fun Activities.  Whether Curry volunteers were handing out water, helping with crowd control, painting faces or keeping children safe at the bouncy houses, the Milton Foundation for Education had full confidence that Curry's volunteers would get the job done.  It's a pleasure to organize a sizable event and know that you can delegate responsibilities to Curry volunteers without having to worry if the jobs will get done.  The Milton Foundation for Education thanks Curry College and your students for helping to make the 2015 Milton Monster Dash a tremendous success.  We look forward to partnering with you again next year!, "said the Milton Foundation for Education's Greg Gordon.
