Women's Soccer Blanked 2-0 at CCC Rival Nichols College

DUDLEY, Mass. – Freshman Danielle Barry (Springfield, Mass.) netter her second goal of the season in just the second minute of the game to lead the Nichols College women's soccer team over Curry 2-0 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Saturday afternoon at the Nichols Soccer Field.

Barry took a pass from fellow freshman Meghan Dunn (Dudley, Mass.) along the left side and lobbed a shot from 20 yards out that sailed over sophomore Morgan Stott (Dartmouth, Mass.) and into the back of the net.

The Bison blanked the Colonels on the shot-chart in the first half, but in the midst of a defensive battle, only fired off five shots themselves in the first 45 minutes.

The score remained 1-0 until the 77th minute when CCC-scoring leader Dunn was able to take a pass from freshman Caitlin Ansart (West Springfield, Mass.) and then lob it over the goalie from 10 yards out.

Dunn led all student-athletes on the day with three shots while Barry and freshman Taylor Daniels (Dudley, Mass.) provided two apiece. The Colonels were able to get off eight shots in the second half, but couldn't get one to go in. They were led by sophomore Kaitlyn Lima (New Bedford, Mass.) and Kelly Parker (Branford, Conn.) with two shots.

Junior Kelly English (Mansfield, Mass.) improves to 3-4-0 as she picks up four saves in the win. Stott falls to 6-3-0 after stopping four shots in the loss.

The Bison host conference-foe Roger Williams next Saturday at 11:00 a.m. The Colonels host Newbury on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. (Game Recap Courtesy of Nichols Sports Information)
