Women's Soccer Edged 1-0 in Overtime at TCCC Rival Western New England

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Junior midfielder Krista Gangloff (Newington, CT) scored the game-winning goal in overtime to lift Western New England College to a 1-0 win over Curry in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) action on Saturday (Oct. 23) afternoon.

The Golden Bears improve to 11-7 overall and now stand alone in third place with a 9-3 mark in conference play. The Colonels fall to 9-7 and are tied for fifth place with a 7-5 TCCC record.

Western New England held a 19-3 advantage in shots, and a 6-2 edge in corner kicks.

After a scoreless regulation, Gangloff sealed the win just 1:40 into the first overtime session. She was assisted by senior midfielder Shannon Pescatello (Wethersfield, CT).

Senior goalkeeper Marti Blum (Huntington Valley, PA) made the start and picked up a pair of saves in the opening half. Freshman goalkeeper Kayla Prout (Holyoke, MA) played the second half and made one stop to pick up the win.

Curry sophomore goalkeeper Samantha Hardy (Pepperell, MA) made seven saves in the match.

Western New England College returns to action on Wednesday (Oct. 27) at 3:00 p.m. as they host Anna Maria to close out the regular season.  Curry travels to Nichols College on Wednesday (Oct. 27) for a 7:00 p.m. game.
