Women's Lacrosse Trounces Mitchell

MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College women's lacrosse team came away with a convincing 21-4 victory over Mitchell College Friday afternoon in non-conference action at Walter M. Katz Field.

With the victory, the Colonels improve to 3-8 overall on the season.

Curry jumped out to an early advantage by outscoring the Mariners 7-1 in the first quarter. Junior Chloe Chevrier (West Suffield, Conn.) netted a first quarter hat trick, while classmate Ellie Hardman (Hanover, Mass.) found the back of the net twice. Sophomores Grayson Goolgasian (Johnston, R.I.) and Natalie Keenan (Haverhill, Mass.) each scored once in the first.

Goolgasian and Keenan completed their hat tricks with two goals each in the second quarter as the Colonels headed to the break ahead 14-2. Chevrier, Hardman, and sophomore Casey Conneely (Arlington, Mass.) all scored once in the second quarter for Curry. 

The hosts continued to run away with the contest by outscoring Mitchell 3-1 in the third quarter. Sophomore Brooke Barry (Abington, Mass.) scored her first collegiate goal in the quarter, while Keenan and Chevrier also found the net.

Curry closed out the win with a 4-1 showing in the fourth quarter. Lexi LaPerle (Ledyard, Conn.) and Emma Kelly (East Falmouth, Mass.) each scored their first collegiate goals in the fourth, and Ava Doyle (Lynnfield, Mass.) and Chevrier each scored insurance markers.

Chevrier finished the afternoon with six goals and two assists for eight points in the win. Keenan had four goals and an assist, while Goolgasian and Hardman each notched three goals and two assists.

In net, sophomore Vivi Helquist (Proctor, Minn.) earned her third victory of the season with a three-save outing.

The 21-goal performance from the Colonels was the program's highest offensive output since a 21-0 victory over Dean on March 6, 2019.

Next up for the Colonels, they will continue their homestand with a Commonwealth Coast Conference battle with Nichols College on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Katz Field.
