Women's Lacrosse Dropped by Marywood

CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Curry College women's lacrosse team opened up its 2023 Spring Break trip with a 17-3 loss to Marywood University Monday morning at the Countryside Sports Complex.

With the defeat, Curry moves to 2-2 overall on the season.

Marywood outscored Curry 3-1 in the opening quarter, with the lone Colonel tally coming from junior Chloe Chevrier (West Suffield, Conn.). Rookie Ava Doyle (Lynnfield, Mass.) assisted on Chevrier's goal.

The Pacers pulled away in the second quarter, putting up seven goals in the period to Curry's one. Sophomore Natalie Keenan (Haverhill, Mass.) scored Curry's only goal of the period, a shorthanded goal at the 6:15 mark.

Chevrier tallied her second goal of the game late in the third quarter to cut Marywood's advantage to 13-3, but the Pacers scored the only four goals of the fourth quarter to seal the 17-3 victory.

Between the pipes, Curry sophomore Vivi Helquist (Proctor, Minn.) made nine saves in the defeat.

Next up for the Colonels, they will continue their Spring Break trip on Thursday with a contest against Farmingdale State from the Countryside Sports Complex.
