MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College women's lacrosse team suffered its first defeat of the season on Wednesday afternoon, falling to Wellesley College by a final score of 11-5 in non-conference action at Walter M. Katz Field.
With the defeat, Curry moves to 2-1 overall on the young season.
Wellesley came out the gate red hot, netting six unanswered goals in the opening quarter to take a 6-0 lead.
Each team scored once in the second quarter as the Colonels went to the half trailing by a score of 7-1. Freshman Ava Doyle (Lynnfield, Mass.) scored the lone goal of the period for the hosts.
After conceding the first goal of the third quarter, Curry scored four goals in a span of less than three minutes to pull to within three at 8-5.
