Women’s Lacrosse Halted by Bison

BRISTOL, RI - The Curry College Women's Lacrosse team was defeated by Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Nichols College 10-8 Saturday afternoon. 

With the loss, Curry dips to 2-10 overall and 1-4 in the CCC.

The Colonels took a quick 3-1 lead in the first quarter of the afternoon matchup. Chloe Chevrier (West Suffield, Conn.) marked the first Colonel goal on a free position shot shortly into the first quarter. Sharon Doherty (Easton, Mass.) tallied two more goals, both from free position shots to grant the visiting Colonels a 3-1 lead.

The Bison took back the lead in the second quarter, marking three unanswered goals.

Curry's Chevrier closed the lead presented by the Bison on another free position shot four minutes into the second half. Three minutes later, Sharon Doherty marked another Colonel goal assisted by Ellie Hardman (Hanover, Mass.) to close the Bison lead to two. 

Curry's Sabrina Santaniello (Marshfield, Mass.) began scoring in the final quarter of play, the Colonels now trail 8-6 with just under 10 minutes remaining in regulation. Morgan Orr and Sharon Doherty closed out the scoring in the afternoon contest but were unable to catch the Nichols College lead. The Bison would take the matchup by a final score of 10-8.

The Colonels get back out on the field Wednesday (4/13) as they host Wentworth at 4 PM on Katz Field.
