Colonels Fall to Golden Bears

MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College Women's Lacrosse team was downed by Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opponent Western New England 17-4 Wednesday evening.

With the loss, Curry falls to 1-8 overall this season and 0-2 in the conference. With the win, the Golden Bears improve to 7-2 overall and 2-0 in the CCC. 

The visiting Golden Bears struck first in the conference matchup, Reilly Miller finding the back of the net just under five minutes into the game. Nine more goals from the Golden Bears granted WNE a 10-0 lead with 12 minutes remaining in the half. 

Curry College freshman midfielder Grayson Goolgasian (Johnston, RI) marked the first goal for the Colonels with just under ten minutes remaining in the first half. 

Curry marked their second goal of the evening in the waning moments of the third quarter. Maggie Murray (Marstons Mills, Mass.) finding an opening in the framework to tally another for the Colonels. Curry senior Sharon Doherty (Easton, Mass.) found the back of the net on two occasions in the closing minutes of the contest, her second coming from a free position shot to close out the primetime bout.

Western New England tallied seven goals in the second half of the conference matchup to Curry's three, taking the game by a final score of 17-4 Wednesday evening.

The Golden Bears were led by Ally Ferraro who recorded four goals in the win.

The Colonels were led by Sharon Doherty who marked two goals in the loss. 

Western New England's Faith Graveline was credited with the win while recording five saves.

Colonel's goalkeeper Jess Ginaitt (Warwick, RI) marked 14 saves in the loss at home. 

The Colonels get back out on the field Saturday (4/2) as they host Gordon College on Katz Field for more conference action.
