Women's Lacrosse Extends Winning Streak to Seven, Defeating TCCC Rival Gordon College, 22-11

MILTON, Mass.- Curry College scored eleven goals in each half en route to a 22-11 victory over Gordon College on Saturday afternoon in Milton, Mass.  With the win, the Colonels remain undefeated and improve to 7-0 overall and 3-0 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference.  The Scotts fall to 4-3 overall and 2-1 in TCCC play.

Senior attacker Ashley Hansbury (Chelmsford, MA) led the Colonels with nine points on six goals and three assists. Senior attacker Jessie Koffman (Andover, MA) scored four goals and chipped in with an assist for five points.  Sophomore attacker Ana Bottary (Hull, MA) and junior attacker Lauren Glavin (Billerica, MA) each had four points on three goals and one assist.  Senior midfielder Kelly Champagne (Wolfboro, NH) scored a career-high three goals while freshman Kaitlin Cloutier (Montpelier, VT) scored two and junior Michaela Powers (Falmouth, MA) had one. 

The Colonels defense had another strong showing causing eight turnovers.  The Colonels, which held a 23-12 advantage in draw controls, also scooped up 15 groundballs to Gordon's 11. 

Gordon had seven first half goals, but were held to just four in the second.  Seven different players scored for the Scots.  Freshman attacker Anna Bloomberg (Simsbury, CT) led her team with three goals and one assist for four points.  Freshman midfielder Stephanie Fitzgerald (Groveland, MA) scored three goals and juniors Jordan Alexander (Portland, ME), Jocie Knaus (Kensington, CT), Kristi Leach (Naples, ME), sophomore Alana Woods (Medford, MA) and freshman Kari Christenson (Standish, ME) each chipped in for one.

Curry’s senior goalie Maria Lynch (Billerica, MA) finished with a season-high 13 saves in net to capture her seventh consecutive win.  In net for Gordon was freshman Danielle Maguire (Norwood, Mass.) who made eight saves for the loss.

The Colonels will host New England College on Tuesday, March 29 for a 4:00 p.m. game time. Gordon hosts Nichols College on March 29 in a 7:00 p.m. start.
