Ashley Hansbury Breaks School-Record With 16 points in a 23-12 Victory Over TCCC Rival New England College

Henniker, N.H. – Curry College women’s lacrosse player Ashley Hansbury (Chelmsford, Mass.) recorded a career-best 16 points, including nine goals and seven assists to lead the Colonels past the New England College Pilgrims 23-12 Tuesday afternoon.

With the win the Colonels improve to 9-3 overall and 6-2 in the TCCC. The loss snaps a four game winning streak for the Pilgrims and drops them to 7-6 overall and 4-3 in conference play.

NEC would jump out to an early 4-2 lead just seven minutes into the opening half but the Colonels would net three straight, including two by Hansbury, grabbing their first lead of the game up 5-4 at the 16:54 mark.  The two teams would continue to exchange goals throughout much of the opening half but it would be Curry who would head into halftime with the 10-8 lead.

The Curry offense would explode in the second half scoring the first three goals to go up 13-8.  NEC’s Chantale Lacroix (Manchester, N.H.) would battle back netting back-to-back goals to get the Pilgrims within three goals with 20 minutes remaining in regulation. 

Curry would continue their dominance in the second as they would finish the game outscoring NEC 10-2, including six unanswered to close out the game and cruise to the 23-12 victory.

In addition to Hansbury, Curry’s Jessie Koffman (Andover, Mass.) scored four goals and had two assists.  Curry’s Carissa Lauyer (Bloomsbury, N.J.) scored three times and Ana Bottary (Hull, Mass.) netted three goals for the Colonels.

Leading the way for NEC was Chantale Lacroix who finished with four goals and Miranda Tinsman (Belgrade, Maine) who scored three times for the Pilgrims.

Picking up the win in goal for Curry was Maria Lynch (Billerica, Mass.) who finished with 13 saves.  In net for NEC was Alexandra DiRico (Limerick, Pa.) who had 16 saves on the afternoon.
