Women's Hockey Falls in CNE Opener

Dudley, MA - The Curry Women's Hockey team fell in their CNE opener on Friday, losing to Nichols 2-0. The Colonels is now 1-1-0 overall and 0-1-0. The Bison are now 3-0-0 and 1-0-0.

After a slow paced first period, that saw the teams combine for only nine shots, the action picked up in the second period. About seven minutes into the period, Nichols grabbed the first goal of the game, when Ema Jaskova scored for the Bison. The score would remain 1-0 until late in the third period. The Colonels would pull their goalie with 90 seconds left, looking for the tying goal, but the Bison would dash their hopes with an empty net goal with just over a minute left in the game.

The Colonels outshot the Bison 25-17, and dominated the faceoff circle, winning 30 of the 49 draws. Hannah Berkowitz won 11 of her 15 faceoffs.

Curry goalie Sarah Kerr stopped 15 of the 16 shots she faced.

Up Next - The two teams will faceoff again on Saturday, when the Colonels host the Bison at 3pm.
