Women's Ice Hockey Blanked by Salve Regina

MIDDLETOWN, R.I. - The Curry College women's ice hockey team dropped a 4-0 decision to Salve Regina University Sunday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference action at the St. George's School Ice Rink.

With the defeat, the Colonels drop to 2-6-2 overall on the season, and 0-4-2 in the CCC.

Neither team scored in the opening 20 minutes, as the teams played an even back-and-forth first period. Both teams finished the first period with eight shots on goal.

Salve Regina began to pull away in the second period, scoring twice in the first six minutes of the second period. Gina Richard and Fiona Simcox scored the two markers for Salve Regina, which saw the hosts take a 2-0 lead into the third.

The Seahawks scored twice in the final minutes with the net empty to secure the 4-0 final.

Sophomore Sarah Kerr (Cochrane, Alberta) took the loss for the Colonels, making 19 saves.

Next up for the Colonels, they will play their final game of the fall semester next Saturday against Nichols at the Canton Ice House. Puck drop is slated for 3 p.m.
