Women's Ice Hockey Blanked in CCC Quarterfinals

BIDDEFORD, Maine - The Curry College women's ice hockey team saw its 2022-23 season come to an end with a 3-0 defeat to the University of New England in the Commonwealth Coast Conference Quarterfinals Wednesday night at the Harold Alfond Forum.

With the defeat, Curry finishes the season with an overall record of 8-16-2.

The Nor'easters came out the gate flying, scoring the game's first goal just 47 seconds in. Keely Kasputis put home a rebound for her seventh goal of the season to give the hosts a 1-0 lead.

Five and a half minutes later, Bella Crugnale doubled UNE's lead when she intercepted a Curry breakout pass and backhanded a shot over the blocker of Curry's Soleil Archambeault (London, Ontario) to give the Nor'easters a 2-0 advantage just over six minutes into the game.

The only goal of the second period was the second goal of the evening for Kasputis, who broke in and beat Archambeault to the glove side just under seven minutes into the frame.

Curry fired off nine shots in the third period but still could not solve Delanie Corcoran, who finished the evening with a 24-save shutout.

In net for Curry, Archambeault finished the night with 26 saves on 29 shots. With the defeat, she closes her first year with the Colonels at 6-9-1.
