Women's Ice Hockey Stumped by Suffolk

CANTON, Mass. - The Curry College women's ice hockey dropped a 5-1 decision to Suffolk University Friday evening in Commonwealth Coast Conference at the Canton Ice House.

With the defeat, Curry falls to 8-14-2 overall and 5-10-2 in the CCC.

Suffolk scored the only goal of the first period on a tally by Shana Cote midway through the frame, assisted by Madison Duff and Sofia Scilipoti.

Just under 11 minutes into the second, Curry sophomore Hannah Berkowitz (Mattawan, Mich.) evened the score with her third goal of the season. A point shot from Ali Olorenshaw (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) was knocked down in the slot, but Berkowitz hopped on the loose puck and buried the rebound. Danielle Stein (Plainview, N.Y.) earned a secondary assist on the tally.

Suffolk scored twice more late in the second, and netted two more in the third to seal the 5-1 victory.

Between the pipes, Curry senior netminder Soleil Archambeault (London, Ontario) stopped 34 shots in the losing effort, including 16 in the third period.

Next up for the Colonels, they will finish out the regular season with a road trip to Endicott College. Puck drop is slated for 3 p.m.
