Women's Ice Hockey Blanks Salve Regina

MIDDLETOWN, R.I. - The Curry College women's ice hockey team secured a 1-0 win over Salve Regina University in Commonwealth Coast Conference action Saturday night at the St. George's Ice Rink.

With the win, Curry improves to 4-4-2 overall on the season and 2-2-2 in the CCC.

The contest's only tally came midway through the second period when sophomore Danielle Stein (Plainview, N.Y.) redirected an Ainsley Wescott (Saco, Maine) point shot past the Salve Regina netminder for her fourth goal of the season.

Salve Regina threatened in the final minutes with the goalie pulled in the final two minutes, but could not solve Curry senior netminder Soleil Archambeault (London, Ontario). Archambeault stopped all 20 shots she faced on the evening to earn her third win and second shutout of the season.

Curry will return to action on Friday evening on the road against CCC opponent Nichols College. Puck drop from Burrillville, R.I. is slated for 5:40 p.m.
